TASTINGS & DINNERS @ DE TRAFFORD We have the following special events to finish off the year at De Trafford and hope you'll be able to join us. 6.00pm FRIDAY 2 NOVEMBER – SYRAH INVESTIGATION & CELEBRATION The granitic slopes of the Helderberg in Stellenbosch can produce some of the greatest Syrahs in the world, but so can a few other spots in the Western Cape. We'll revisit our Placemat Collection 2010 where we produced 5 Syrahs from 5 sites from the Swartland to Malgas with exactly the same vinification. We look forward to seeing whether site definition intensifies with age or diminishes and which wines are shining brighter than others. We'll pop into the Northern Rhone with a bit of Guigal, Jamet and co. and enjoy a coq au vin with some proper Syrah from De Trafford! R500.00 per person (booking and pre-payment required) 6.00pm FRIDAY 16 NOVEMBER – 2015 BORDEAUX VS STELLENBOSCH 2015 2015 was an exceptional vintage in Bordeaux (as well as many other parts of the world, including the Cape) and I was lucky enough to visit the region in April 2017 with Simon Farr and Ben Collins of Cru World Wine along with our Sijnn winemaker Charla Haasbroek. The 2015's were still in barrel and we got to taste many of the top growths, which was a great experience as a winemaker. We managed to bring in a few favourites in a reasonably affordable manner – meaning under R10 000 a bottle. We'll taste 5 along with a few top Stellenbosch wines blind in pairs, or threesomes. Perhaps we'll open a few De Trafford wines too and have some magret de canard to soak up all the fine claret! R900.00 per person (booking and pre-payment required)
