Pinot Noir 02/09/2015

2000 Light red with light brownish edge. Quite a complex nose of forest floor and stewed fruit. Soft silky palate. Quite long drying a bit on the finish. Holding up surprisingly well. Drink soon.

Pinot Noir 17/12/2004

1992 Pale onion skin colour – brownish with some red centre.
Hugely perfumed beautiful nose. Undergrowth truffles, very Pinot-like. Wild berries.   Silky palate, fruit drying a bit. Quite long and complex with savoury flavours dominating over fruit. Drink now (A little past it’s best, though some bottles have shown more richness on palate).

1993/
1994
Onion skin colour.
Rich, quite perfumed nose with quite meaty notes. A (positive) hint of VA.
Silky palate showing a bit more fruit than 1992 but less complex and slightly coarse finish. Drink now.

1995 Onion skin colour.
Quite rich and savoury fruit nose. Dark undergrowth. Slight nuttiness. A (positive) hint of VA.
Rich silky palate showing good fruit and complexity, carries through to the finish. Drink now, should hold for a few more years.

1996 Pale onion skin colour, with special emphasis on brown, slightly unclear.
Surprisingly attractive nose. Old strawberries and dusty undergrowth and a little balsamic. Soft silky textured palate. Fruit fades on the finish but doesn’t dry out. Not much depth and complexity though. Drink now.

1997 Nutty Christmas cake nose. Spice, some truffles, complex.
Fine full palate, elegant complex nuts and dried fruit. Good fruit concentration. European style vintage showing well now. Drink now or keep 3 or 4 years.

1998 Med, pale red with onion skin edges, actually surprisingly dark for BK5 (Champagne) clone.
Quite youthful fruit on nose, mulberries. Alcohol showing a bit. Some herbs. Rich and powerful palate. Prominent but nicely integrated tannins and dry savoury finish. Big Pinot. Drink now or keep 3 or 4 years.

1999 Pale red colour with onion skin/tawny edges.
Pure raspberry, strawberry, mulberry fruit. Lean but very fine. Very fresh and attractive. Hints of salami and undergrowth subtle, but very complex.
Rich silky textured palate with fine fruit showing through. Delicious. Drink now or keep 3 or 4 years.

2000 Cape Winemakers Guild Auction Wine
Rich, wild berry fruit, red cherries, roasted nuts. Quite fresh and pure, lifted by high alcohol. Complex.
Rich silky palate. Dry, but smooth nutty finish. Fruit carries through well to quite a long finish. Drink now, should keep at least 3 or 4 years.

2001 Hidden concentrated dark cherries and wild berries. Roasted oats.
Lovely purity of fruit, yet to develop tertiary flavours.
Rich concentrated fruit hiding behind tight fine nutty tannins. Keep 2 to 3 years and should last at least 10 years.

2002 Ripe strawberries and dusty talcum powder nose. Some misty undergrowth
quite Burgundian. A little sage.
Soft silky palate. Quite complex. Slightly powdery finish. Drink now, should last a few years, but would recommend enjoying this wine in its youth.
